Pastor Michael E. McGee (Support Started in January 2010) 11434 Fredericksburg Turnpike Woodford, Virginia 22580 804-633-9902 March 8, 2010 We want to first thank you all for uplifting our ministry in prayer. It is encouraging to hear from you and know that we are on your prayer list. As with all of you, the snow and loss of electricity caused the cancellation of back to back Sunday services. When we were finally able to have a Sunday service February 14th, we were blessed to have one of our long time missionaries Bro. Richard Hurst with us. Although attendance has been down this month, we still had returning visitors in the last four weeks. Our church family continues to reach out to our community for our Thursday evening GROW program. We had a high of 12 adults again this last month and have been able to present the gospel to several families. As you think of this ministry, pray for these families whom we are trying to reach with the gospel of Christ. We also had the opportunity to minister to the family of one of the teens who comes on our van who lost her step-dad last Saturday. He was only 34 years of age, so there were innumerable questions of “Why?” We pray that the gospel message that I had the privilege to preach will have a mammoth effect on this family’s eternal destiny. Finally, we have our annual mission’s conference this week (March 11-14). This is often the highlight of our year. This year we have Dr. David Pittman as our conference speaker with the theme “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness.” We are praying that our hearts will be prepared to be stirred to do even more through our Faith Promise this year!

Heritage Update for March 2010
February was a month full of challenges. As most of you all also had to deal with the snow storm of the decade, we were forced to cancel almost two full Sundays and one Wednesday evening service. After we were able to get our parking lot cleared, our members had difficulty in getting to church since many of their side roads were not even plowed. But God …
Since the snow storm God has sent new visitors to us every Sunday. We have had 11 new visitors in the past two weeks. We have had some outstanding visits with these families and some have returned for a second visit. This weekend is our third “Sowing the Seed” Sunday. We are “Sowing the Seed” of friendship this month and challenging many to invite their friends to church. We are excited about the upcoming Spring and the opportunity to get back into our community. We are planning an outreach into the neighborhood in preparation for our Easter Sunday Service.
While we have been “homebound” because of the snow this month, it gave me a lot of opportunity to plan and prepare for this spring and summer. We look forward to seeing what God will do here in Winchester this year. Our goal is to have 80 people attending weekly by December of this year. I know that this may seem like an aggressive goal, but we believe that there are many people still looking for a church that preaches the truth. Please add our goal to your church prayer lists so that we may enlist as many as possible to ask God for 80!!!! |
